ADT DECOR THRIVES ON CUSTOM-BUILT
Western architectural designs have been the norms beside Vietnamese traditional styles, but the trends today also include the mingle between Western and Oriental traits. That is the business scope that Pham Quang Tuan Huy, general director of ADT Decor, is seeking to develop.

He has, to some extent, won the confidence of many customers to introduce the new architectural styles to new construction works, including private homes and offices.

"I want to bring the simplicity of the Vietnamese soul to the decoration work in combination with the modernity of western styles," the 35-year-old executive said.

Interior decoration started to boom in Vietnam around five years ago, but demands of the public and the business circle are quite diverse, remarked Huy, who set up his business in 2000.

Previously, interior decoration was given little attention, so customers often assigned the job to the builders, who often performed the work according to some available decoration styles. That is like shopping the ready-made garment, which may fit the body size but skips the personal tastes.

As the economy grows, Huy said, home owners want that interior decoration must well suit their personal tastes so that they can enjoy their living environment in a bustling city. That tendency also applies to offices, as personalizing interior decoration is now more attended. The Japanese people have a different taste than American ones, as they are inspired by different cultural backgrounds.

ADT Decor cares for all such characteristics, according to Huy.

"I listen to customers attentively to figure out what they like, and then persuade them to choose our interior decoration styles, which must be attuned to their will or tastes," he said.

Such decoration ideas at ADT Decor are not complicated though. That could be a wooden floor in combination with stone flooring tiles and natural materials such as bamboo curtains, Bat Trang ceramics and other handicraft products.

The working office of a company director, for example, must also give him or her feeling of relaxation and satisfaction, which in turns help enhance business efficiency, Huy said.

"It would be a very intimate atmosphere if a country-flavoured brick wall is erected beside the modern-day furniture items like the desk and the dossier cabinet," Huy gave an example.

It is not easy at all to combine the Vietnamese spirit with the modernity of the western world, commented Huy, adding his young and professional staffers have to work hard to develop the bold and new ideas in decoration. In all, decorative works must be custom-built, or tailored to the individual demand of customers.

ADT Decor also has built a factory specializing in producing materials at the special request of customers. Huy said that after the design, the factory will be the tailor to make the special garment for the guest.

Efforts by the company have been recognized by many customers in HCM City, and as more people elsewhere have learned of ADT Decor's styles, the company has also opened a representative office in Hanoi to expand business northwards.

Many corporate customers have already had ADT Decor do the beautifying job for themselves. These include the offices of Dragon Capital, DeBon, Nam Quang Garment Company, and LG Digital among others.
